A woman goes through many voluntary and involuntary changes in her life; menstruation, marriage, pregnancy, menopause, access to equal opportunity, lack of respect for caregiving, navigating career and motherhood, and so on. Each time a woman overcomes these obstacles, she emerges brighter and more vital, giving birth to a more powerful woman. To convey the idea of rebirth, I depicted women arising out of a flower in my illustration. Pigeons are symbols of peace and harmony. To keep it open-ended and more accessible to the audience, the women haven’t been given a definite identification. The gradation of the blooms and the flow of the artwork also represent different periods of existence.
